14-Days of Talent Hunt

The Government in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation organized a 14-day program which is a part of the Prime Minister Innovative Learning Programme 'Dhruv'. 60 students from the science, mathematics and performing arts streams have been handpicked to be a part of this program which will start on Thursday at the ISRO headquarter in Bengaluru and end on 23rd October at IIT Delhi. As per a government press release the main objective of DHRUV is to allow talented students to realize their full potential and contribute to society in space science. They will be mentored by experts. On the eve of the launch of this program, the Union Minister for Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal said,

"The government through a rigorous selection process has identified 60 talented students from arts and science streams for the Prime Minister Innovative Learning Program-Dhruv. The students, who will be called Dhruv Tara, will get together and have the opportunity to discuss major problems being faced by the global community."

ISRO Chairman Dr. K Sivan, retired Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma will be present at the launch of the Dhruv initiative. Besides the Dhruv initiative Sivan also revealed that they are also planning to set up space research centres at Jaipur, Kurukshetra, Kanyakumari, Patna, Guwahati and Varanasi, where the main focus will be on research and providing a platform to the talented youths across the nation so that they can come up with brilliant ideas, proceed further with them and develop space technologies.
