66th National Film Awards selection to start after 17th Lok Sabha Elections

The National Film Awards, which is one of the most prestigious awards for Indian films, will start its selections after the 17th Lok Sabha Poll Elections. The National Film Award which declares its selection every year in the month of April, will reconsider the time of selection and will only declare its choices after the Elections are over throughout the Nation. According to Information and Broadcasting Ministry, this decision has been taken as a precaution, so the power of media cannot be utilized in wrong purpose, which might affect the level playing field during the election process. The Nation Film Awards selections are usually made by notable filmmakers and acclaimed film personalities, and the selection also goes down on floor in every April. However, this year, four states are having their polls in the month of April. Among which, one state is considered to be the most film friendly state. The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) comes into force as soon as the election schedule is announced and remains in force till election results are declared. The results for the Lok Sabha polls will be announced on May 23.
