Another Vande Bharat Express to start operations

The second Vande Bharat Express train is most likely to start operations on the Delhi-Katra route from the next month. The much-awaited second set of this super-fast express train is expected to operate at least three days a week on this high traffic Delhi-Katra route. The Railway Board has decided to launch the express train on this route keeping in mind the high traffic movement due to the Vaishno Devi temple pilgrimage. After its operation starts in this route, the travel time between Delhi and Katra, which happens to be the last station on the way to Vaishno Devi temple will be reduced from 12 hours to 8 hours. The train is scheduled to run every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday for now, but it might get extended depending on the demand. The train is scheduled to leave Delhi at 06:00 hours and reach Katra at 14:00 hours. On its way back, it will leave for Delhi the same day at 15:00 hours and reach Delhi at 23:00 hours. The first Vande Bharat Express or ‘Train 18’ started operations on the Delhi-Varanasi route on February 15 this year. The super-fast express train runs at a maximum speed of 130 kmph. Once it starts operation, the train will have around two-minute halts at Ambala, Ludhiana, and Jammu Tawi, before Katra.
