Around the world in 80 days is a dream for all travellers across the world. Don’t sweat yourself but the dream might soon become a reality. A lucky few will be able to live and enjoy the adventures of Phileas Fogg from Jules Vernes classic ‘Around the World in 80 days’, thanks to Airbnb.
Airbnb is an American online hospitality service that allows members to arrange for homestays, lodgings, tickets or an entire trip. The company acts a broker, allowing the users to explore various options. A small number of guests will travel using eight modes of transportation to promote a new collection of available bookings called Airbnb adventures across 18 countries in 80 days. The travel modes also include an air balloon. Airbnb will host the lodgings, food and travel for all the participants. The experience highlights Fogg’s incredible journey from the Galapagos Islands to hiking Australian mountain ranges. Joe Zadeh, Airbnb’s vice president said, “The thought of circumnavigating the globe and exploring different cultures and communities is an interesting notion.”
20 guests can book the 80 day trip starting June 20 on Airbnb’s official website, at a price tag of $5000. The price will include travel, lodging, fun activities and meals. The company is yet to confirm how the guests will be selected. The exciting journey will begin on 1st September.
“We really want to make the point that adventures are efficiently priced,” Zadeh explained the comparatively low price tag. The idea is an upgrade of Airbnb Experiences- a 10 day trekking program for twelve guests, which is highly popular amongst travellers. Airbnb also hosts Sasquatch in Washington and trekking through Amazon.
