Biopic on Jayalalitha

Jayaram Jayalalithaa, the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, who passed away in May 2016 was ‘Amma’ to her people. She served the state of Tamil Nadu for over fourteen years between 1991 to 2016. She was born on 24th February 1948 and this year on her 71st birth anniversary director A L Vijay officially announced a biopic on Jayalalitha and it will be titled as ‘Thalaivi'. Members belonging to Jayalalitha’s political party lovingly called her, ‘PuratchiThalaivi’ (revolutionary leader), ‘Amma’ (mother), and ‘ThangaTharaiga’ (golden maiden). Jayalalitha’s nephew Deepak has issued a NOC and gave a nod for this project.

Writer Vijayendra Prasad is associated with this film as a mentor, Prasad was also the writer of ‘Bahubali’. The music of this film has been given by G.V. Prakash Kumar. Thalaivi is produced by Vishnu Induri.

Jayalalitha herself was a successful actress in the mid-1960s. After that, she ruled the political world as well. Director Vijay says,

Who else can befittingly look perfect for the title Thalaivi than her? There’s a famous quote that says- Leaders are not born, they are made.

That’s very true she reigned the state for almost fourteen years. The cast of the film has not yet been disclosed nor the shooting dates have been revealed. But they will be out soon.
