Century’s longest lunar eclipse

The most amazing celestial event, the longest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century, would take place on July 27th and luckily it would be visible from all parts of India.

The event, popularly known as the 'blood moon', will last for approximately 1 hour and 43 minutes, giving the viewers an extraordinary opportunity to experience the event. It will be followed by a partial eclipse lasting a little more than an hour. The partial eclipse will begin at 11.54 pm IST (Indian Standard Time) on July 27. It will be followed by the total eclipse starting at 1 am on July 28. For a lunar eclipse this long, the moon has to pass through the central part of the Earth’s shadow and the moon will look the darkest. During the eclipse, the distance between the Moon and the Earth will be approximately 406,223 km.

This celestial event will also be visible from parts of South America, Africa, Middle East and Central Asia.
