Srikanth Reddy, his grandnephew said, "We used to have jobs in the city and would visit him during the holidays and he would always make big meals for us. We then got the idea that we should do the same for the community. As the channel grew in popularity, he and other family members quit their jobs and began working on it full time. We will continue his work". He added, "We would show him the comments and explain what they said. He was very happy when he saw them". Reddy's first video ‘King of 2000 EGGS’ was uploaded on YouTube in August 2017, following which he uploaded more than 260 videos over the two years since he started his channel. His videos mostly focused on Indian cooking but one of his most watched videos was that of him making french-fries. Grandpa Kitchen uploaded an emotional video of grandpa’s funeral where thousands of his followers paid respect through comments.
