‘Cool’ T-shirts for a Cooler Generation

With Global Warming taking over the world, the increasing heat in several parts of the world has become almost unbearable. With heatwaves, raging over the streets, humans had very limited options to either endure the heat and face consequences often, or stay indoors to avoid such a heated situation; which is not entirely possible to keep up a steady livelihood.

However, technology has been a savior in our daily lives so far, and yet again technology offered another solution to the heated problem of our day-to-day lives. A Sony startup came bearing a surprise for common people who were severely affected with the rising heat, and needed an alternative to suit their needs.

Named as Reon Pocket, is a Bluetooth controlled device, which is kept in a specially designed silicon-material shirt, having a pocket just below the neck, where the device is kept, and helps regulate the body temperature to a certain degree. The device when controlled by smartphones can cool a person up to 13 degrees, and in case of cold days, it helps the host to warm up to 8 degrees

Using the 'Peltier effect', which is common in refrigerators or wine coolers, where small electrical currents either heats up one side of the device or cools the other part, resulting in the dual effects at alters. The devices energy lasts only for 90 minutes, and can be charged fully in about 2 hours of charging

Sony has launched the device with the target audience being office commuters, who suffer the heaviest blows of heat on a daily basis. The device is currently available in Japan with the price tag stating $1200 for the basic model, and only its demand will make it an international hit, which only time can tell.
