Air India a government owned agency is again in the media lime light for the incident that took place on 17 June in Air India flight AI 772 which was Kolkata bound to take off from Bengalore. The public spat broke out between the Pilot and the crew member inside the plane. The pilot asked the crew member to wash his tiffin box. The crew member refused to do so, saying it was not a part of the crew’s job and heated argument took place in front of the passengers those who were on board, other crew members intervened and asked both of them to calm down. As a result the flight was delayed for 77 minutes. Air India has confirmed the incident and an inquiry have been launched into the issue. Till then both the Pilot and crew member are grounded. Air India is now mulling a ban on pilots bringing their own food onboard an aircraft.
Well the list is quite long as a crew member stated that often pilots bring their own lunch from home and ask the crew members to do chores like asking them to roast almonds for them and serving them ‘cheese toast’ and fruit salads. Air India has taken serious note of the incident.
Earlier march 27, Air India had asked its pilots not to order special meals for themselves during the flights. The airline carrier had asked its pilots to adhere to the meals schedule that was laid down by the company.
