Remember the movie “Dunston checks in” —A real-life incident similar to the movie happened in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh recently with the only difference that this time the scene unfolded at a toll booth rather than a hotel!
A monkey jumped into the toll booth and stole cash in broad daylight making this video viral on the internet.
The incident took place at the Bara toll plaza under Akbarpur Kotwali in Kanpur's Dehat area on April 25. The whole incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed at the toll booth.
As per the video, the monkey jumped into the toll booth from a white van. The toll booth worker seemed amused and slightly surprised to find the cheeky monkey perched on his shoulders. However, before he could even blink his eyes and understand the intent of this sudden guest, the monkey snatched a bundle of note from the cash register and fled from the toll plaza.
Apparently, the toll worker was so shocked by this bizarre robbery that it took a couple of minutes for the reality to sink in. by the time the operators started chasing the monkey, the little thief was out of reach. On questioning the car driver declined to have any association with the monkey.
Manoj Sharma, a senior official of the toll management company confirmed that the cheeky thief stole approximately Rs.5000. He further claimed that this was the second time such an incident had occurred prompting them to make an official complaint to the police.
It will not be wrong to say that the police will have a tough time nabbing the thief this time.
