Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium to be Named after Arun Jaitley

After the great loss of Arun Jaitley the country of billions, bid an emotional goodbye to one of the stalwarts of Indian political scenario. The nation still grieving the loss, and to make amends, on Tuesday, 27th August, The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) decided to rename Feroz Shah Kotla stadium to Arun Jaitley Stadium, in his memory. 

His contributions to Delhi Cricket cannot be denied, to which the nation witnessed some great talent cruising the Indian side on several platforms. During his tenure, the Delhi stadium was induced with modern facility and renovation, eventually increasing the capacity of the stadium for more supporters to avail the strands. His support and encouragement led to India gaining some of its best cricketers, rather athletes of the time, such as, Ashish Nehera, Virendra Sehwag, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, Rishab Pant.

Gautam Gambhir had previously proposed to name the stadium after Arun Jaitley, long before his demise. With the news of renaming the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Gambhir expressed his happiness for the matter and also his grief that it was only done after the man is no more, which could have been the most fitting tribute to such an inspirational figure for the mass. 

The DDCA president Rajat Sharma, shared the decision with the entire nation on his twitter handle. The renaming will take place on 12th September, which is also the same day, a stand of the stadium will be named after the current Indian team captain Virat Kohli. The whole event will take place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju
