French Giant Starts A New Chapter

France’s aerospace component and defence company Safran to set up an engine plant in Hyderabad. The firm will manufacture LEAP (Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion) turbofan engine for aircraft. The company already has an electrical wirings facility at Hyderabad. The new facility will be built next to this electrical wirings factory in the special economic zone at GMR, Hyderabad.

The firm will be a first of its kind in India, currently, the LEAP engines are manufactured by a France-based company which goes by the name of CFM International. Safran is investing 36 million euros in this project. The construction work is expected to start in june 2019. It is likely to be completed by 2020. The company will have 50 employees initially. In total, the company will hire a total of 300 employees.  The CEO of Safran, Philippe Petitcolin said,

We’re delighted to open a new chapter in our long history with the Indian aerospace industry”.
