Government’s moves to boost cultural ties

The South Korean pop and drama gained massive popularity in the country, fans of this show are dependent on the internet to watch it. But soon enough they can catch their favourite K-pop drama on their television screen, not only that other Korean shows as well. In a move to strengthen the relations with the neighbouring countries, India has signed agreements with both South Korea and Bangladesh. As per the agreement Doordarshan India will be made available in these two countries and their channels here on DD free dish.

The news was announced on Wednesday and the Union Minister for Information & broadcasting Prakash Javadekar in this context said,

The decision is more about robust cultural exchange. Prime Minister Modi’s Look East Policy is working well. Mutual cooperation with neighbouring countries is very important and such agreements help build mutual relationships.

India’s Prasar Bharati and Bangladesh’s Bangladesh TV (BTV) has already signed an MoU this year on May 7th. These measures have been taken in order to strengthen the ties and promote a healthy relationship between the countries. Both the countries also planned to co-produce a film on Banga Bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, to be directed by Shyam Benegal.
