How Science has been progressing

The advancement of technology has given a new lease of life to Kris Boesen. Kris who got paralyzed from the neck down qualified for an experimental treatment made from stem cells. In 2016 Kris was driving down a road in a small village in California’s San Joaquin Valley, when his car fishtailed on the wet street hit a tree and recoiled into a telephone pole, crushing the vehicle causing Kris to lose consciousness. Kris and his family lost all hopes until a neurosurgeon fused Boesen’s neck bones to stabilize his spine. Boesen’s condition qualified him for an experimental treatment using stem cells to repair damaged tissue.

Scientists have been studying treatment with stem cells and how to use them in treating degenerative brain disorders, and for brain repair. Brain damage caused due to stroke, spinal cord injury can be treated through neural stem cells. It can also be used to keep alive the neurons in degenerative diseases. Treating diseases like ALS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s with the stem cells have been proved successful. The scientists face a lot of challenges in this field but the progress and success are more than any challenge. Treatment with stem cell if included in daily medical practice will surely help a lot of people who have lost all hopes.
