Hurricane Dorian wrecks Bahamas

Hurricane Dorian, which developed as a tropical wave in the Central Atlantic gradually intensified into a hurricane and had hit the Bahamas. It is perhaps, one of the most intense storms ever to hit the Caribbean island. It has killed 30 people as of now but the government officials believe that the death toll will go up, due to which hundreds of body bags along with extra freezers have been ordered. The Category 5 hurricane has turned the Grand Bahama International Airport into ruins with several aircrafts being completely destroyed. The runways of the airport are currently filled with aircraft debris and is unfit for flight operations. Hundreds of people are desperately waiting to leave the Bahamas but the airport issue has turned out to be a severe problem for them. The severe hurricane had hit the island with deadly winds of 185mph, leaving 70,000 in need of life-saving assistance. The United Nations has organised airlifts from Panama, including eight metric tonnes of ready-to-eat meals, two logistics hubs and satellite equipment for emergency response teams. Volunteers are flocking to various places in order to dump supplies and rescue animals that have been left behind.
