Hygiene Ratings to Know Your Best Food Spot

Restaurants and hotels are very popular in the modern 21st century life. Often in the busy schedule of a person, it is actually very helpful to grab lunch or dinner or some snacks from one of these food outlets. On the downside, the consumers never have a definite way to figure out whether the food is legitimate or hygienic to indulge in. On top of this suspicion, there have been several instances where household restaurants fell into the scanner due to their poor hygiene.

But now the days of confusion seems to be over, with Restaurants asked to display their hygiene ratings just outside their entrance door. This step will be regarded as mandatory for all the food outlets with the help of food supervisors. The step was taken keeping in mind the safety of the food to be served and to raise the standards and quality of food in all places.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has initially started rating online registered food restaurants, and has trained over 1.7 lakh food supervisors for assistance. The rating system is all set to be implemented and the team will also be entitled to serve notice if any restaurants are found to be violating the norms.

The idea for the rating system is devised in accordance with FSSAI’s ‘Eat Right India’ campaign. Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also stated, how India’s rapid shift of diet has also created a concern for the rising number of diseases such as, obesity, hypertension and diabetes, and how to prevent or be cautious about it. FSSAI will also keep an eye on the oils used for frying food ingredients and also the re-use of the leftover oil, and to help reduce trans-fatty acid levels to less than 2%. This step will help start a healthier campaign, and have quality food on the go for many.
