Indian Railways to Revamp Few Stations

The Indian Railways are ready to start their redevelopment works on 22 stations across the entire nation in a purpose to help ease the travel for passengers. The Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) and MECON Limited have jointly signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the development of projects of 8 railway stations including Bandra Terminus, Andheri, Chennai Egmore and Ranchi to start away with the renovation. 

However, this is not the only MoA that has been signed in a few days’ time. Another Memorandum of Agreement was signed by two other Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) i.e., Engineering Projects India Limited (EPIL) and Bridge and Roof for the development project to start in 14 stations including Kolkata Terminal, Hyderabad, Kalyan Junction, Ludhiana, Kanpur Central, and Udaipur City. The Central Public Sector Enterprises are to look after the projects regarding the 22 stations and give the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) to The Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC). 

6 Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) has been selected by IRSDC so far, to achieve their milestone plan of developing a total of 41 railway station across the country. Other CPSE’s to shortly start working with IRSDC are RITES, IRCON and NPCC. Stations like Anand Vihar, Bijwasan, Chandigarh, Shivaji Nagar, Surat, Biayyappanahalli, Nagpur, Gwalior, Amritsar, Gandhinagar (Jaipur), Sabarmati, Kanpur, Thakurli, Habibganj and Gandhi Nagar (Gujarat) are scheduled to go under massive redevelopment with advanced technology and world class airport-like hubs for the convenience of travelers. Habibganj and Gandhinagar are two stations whose renovations works are already in progress.
