India’s first space park

The first space park is to be set up in India at Knowledge City by the Kerala Government to attract global startups working in the space sector. The state-of-the-art Space Systems Park will also be a major manufacturing hub in the country for space technology, research and development. The Space Park will also have a Knowledge Centre and Space Museum named after Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, which will be developed by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre of ISRO to pay tribute to the former president who was a top space scientist of the country. The Kerala Government will provide with 20.01 acres of land for lease to the Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd for setting up the Space Park at Knowledge City. The proposed project will be implemented by the Electronics and IT Department to make the Space Park a manufacturing hub for companies. The park will have integrated complexes consisting of start-up incubator, accelerators, skill training systems and production units. M Sivasankar, State Secretary, Electronics and IT, Kerala said, "With the Space Park materializing, Kerala capital will become a key hub of space technology in the country. The Space Park is being set up to leverage on the opportunities provided by Space 2.0 and it will generate lots of high tech jobs".
