IS JURASSIC PARK POSSIBLE…VERY MUCH SO!!

It is of no surprise, while watching Sci-fi Hollywood movies; we fantasize about weird and outrageous theories and its implications in our daily lives. One of the most brain melting theories has to be ‘cloning’; the first picture that probably popped up in your head was Jurassic Park or maybe something totally different like…let’s say The sixth day. Irrespective of the movies, the idea of cloning has fascinated all the Sci-fi fans since forever. The question still remains…

 “IS CLONING POSSIBLE?”

Well…the answer is yes!

dinno-1

A lab in Korea called Sooam(just so you know, cloning is legal there)…has already started off

with their quest of cloning animals. After successfully cloning around 600 dogs, now they are focusing on something ‘bigger’.

Any guesses?

dinno-2

It’s a woolly mammoth!! Researchers at the Sooam labs are working strenuously on bringing back the Woolly Mammoth from extinction, if you think its too 'Jurassic park-ish' wait till you read how they do it.

According to sources, frozen Mammoth remains have been recovered from Siberia. The research unit at Sooam, has various parts of this Ice age legend preserved with them. Currently they are looking for traces of living cells in the mammoth carcass. Once that’s done, they are gonna fuse its genome with that of a South African/ Asian Elephant. Once that procedure is done…the woolly mammoth can again roam the Tundra.

Many environmentalists have questioned the consequence of such a tabooed move on the ecology, especially on the mammoths and their survival in the modern world. None the less, it’s still a huge leap for biotechnology.

Coming to the important part now…When a biotechnologist of Sooam was faced with ‘the ice-breaking question’,

Can humans be cloned too?

He smiled and said,

Although it’s illegal, but theoretically, very much so…
