JEE and NEET to be conducted twice a year

Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar has recently announced that students can now on appear in the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) [JEE-Mains] and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) twice a year. With this, students will be eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). With NEET, students will be eligible for admissions in all medical colleges except AIIMS and JIPMER, Puducherry. National Testing Agency (NTA) from now on will be in charge of conducting these examinations and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) won’t be a part of it.

Importantly, JEE (Mains) and NEET would be conducted in student friendly manner, where psychometric methods, standardization techniques and best of the equated scores would be used for the admission procedure of the students. Side by side, the examinations would be more secure and international norms would be maintained. Significantly enough, ample care is to be taken to make the examinations leak-proof.  Another big change is, all the examinations are going to be conducted in all the existing languages with no change in syllabus. Anyhow, candidates will now have the liberty to choose on which date they’d like to appear for the examination. The question papers would comprise of multiple choice questions with equal level of difficulty.
