Netflix’s new subscription plan for India

Netflix has recently launched its new subscription plan only for the Indian audience and it is the cheapest of all plans that it provides. Netflix at an event ‘Netflix House’ in New Delhi announced a new subscription plan – the ‘mobile-only subscription plan’ priced at Rs 199 per month, only for the Indian audience. This happens to be the first time that Netflix has introduced any mobile only subscription. It is presumed that keeping in mind the ever growing market of digital entertainment in India, Netflix has decided to invest more in this country. The media-service provider was also facing a tough competition from its key rivals like Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video which provided services at cheaper rates at 299 and ₹129 per month respectively. Earlier the minimum basic Netflix plan would have costed a customer RS ₹499 per month, while a standard plan is priced at ₹649 and premium one costs RS 799. Netflix's product innovation director Ajay Arora said, "We believe this new plan will make Netflix even more accessible and better suit people who like to watch on their smartphones and tablets—both on the go and at home". The latest Rs199 per month plan will give the customers access to all Netflix movies and web series in SD mode, however, only one screen viewership will be provided for this plan.
