New Naval Chief bring VIP culture in the navy to an end

Admiral Karambir Singh, the 24th and current Naval Chief of staff after his appointment this year, laid down his first set of instructions for the Indian Navy. In his announcement he blatantly outed the navy for their years of VIP culture.

He stated that over the years, the navy has done wasteful expenditures over ceremonies and parties where officers belonging to lower ranks were socially expected to honor their seniors by providing special treatment.

He even stated that this culture wasn’t just limited to the officer but their families too. He pointed out how the discrimination happened and has out rightly refused to fund such lavish spending of the naval fund on such events. He stated that overly flamboyant treatment of officers should be avoided at all cost - including throwing petals, lighting lamps, bouquet giving etc.

In typical naval fashion, high ranking officers were offered better meals served in state of the art crockery, Admiral Singh has proposed to ban this practice to create equality in the much bureaucratic environment that was previously existent in such events.

He even said that the families of sailors and such need not need to stand and pay respect every time a senior officer walks into the room, except if it is for a very high ranking authority like the Prime Minister himself. Admiral Singh stated that juniors need to be disciplined not compliant to their every whim.

When asked Admiral Singh stated that the navy was g force a contemporary fighting force must not succumb to such mindless traditions, instead manpower and resources must be optimally utilized to produce the best of results.

With almost 70,000 working personnel, 137 ships, 235 manned aircrafts, India has the 7th strongest navy in the entire world. Admiral Karambir expects that following these unified values will help take India even higher on the list and bask in its glory.
