New Railway Zone for Andhra

The Central Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday announced that Andhra Pradesh will its separate railway zone. Andhra’s zone named ‘South Coast Railway’. The headquarter of this railway zone will be at Vishakhapatnam.

Railway Minister said that the present divisions of Guntakal, Guntur, Vijaywada, and Waltair will be divided into two divisions and it will have the headquarter at the South Coast railway. The ministry plans to convert a part of the Waltair division to a new division; that will have the headquarters at Odisha’s Rayagada. A memorandum was submitted to the Railway Ministry which said that some parts of Andhra Pradesh are very backward and needs an impetus for development. The regions include Srikakulam, Vishakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram.
