New York sets new tourism record in 2018

New York City’s tourism and marketing agency has announced that a record breaking 65.2 million tourists had visited New York in 2018. The NYC & Company reports that among them, around 51.6 million were American and 13.5 million were foreign tourists from around the world compared to 13.1 million foreign travelers in the previous year of 2017. According to Master Card’s Annual Global Destination Cities list of 2018, New York ranked the 6th most visited city in the world with Bangkok topping that list followed by London, Paris, Dubai and Singapore. According to the city’s tourism and marketing agency China happens to be the second leading source of tourists to visit the city followed by Canada and Britain. Tourists coming to NYC in 2018 have spent an approximate of $44 billion, thus flourishing the tourism sector of the city even more. The chief executive of NYC & Company, Fred Dixon expects to break this record in 2019 with at least 67 million visitors.
