Patna Junction’s Waiting Room, A Treat For Commuters

Out of the many initiatives taken by the Indian Railways to upgrade their services and provide a better travel experience for its commuters, Patna Junction station surprised its passenger with the largest AC waiting room in order to make their wait a fruitful one. Piyush Goyal-led Railway Ministry is to be thanked for the full air-conditioned waiting hall.

The Patna junction in Bihar is usually a busy railway station, and a waiting room capable of catering 500 passengers and equipped with many passenger-friendly amenities is to be appreciated wholeheartedly. With the massive number of 500 commuters’ accommodation at a time, Patna waiting room is the first of its kind in the country. All passengers irrespective of class of train tickets or even having a platform ticket can wait and are allowed to use the same amenities available in the waiting rooms.

Seven 65 inch HD television screens have also been installed, which will show the time tables of different trains as well as few entertainment programs for the passengers to pass time while waiting. The railways have also made available Free RailTel RailWire WiFi for laptop and mobile phones along with charging sockets to keep the devices working.

On an area of 7500 square metres, inside Patna Junction, the waiting room is build, the premises of which is illuminated with LED lights and fully air-conditioned with steel benches and ceiling fans to meet the comfort of each commuter. The entire power supply has been designed in an eco-friendly manner by using solar energy.

The station walls are also decorated in with several artworks representing the tradition of Bihar in local folk culture, such as Madhubani culture and significant painting on the infamous Chhath Puja. The station staffs are appointed to keep on the check of the cleanliness of the room throughout the day.
