President inaugurates new administrative block of SC

The President of India Ramnath Kovind recently inaugurated a new administrative block of the Supreme Court. Other dignitaries like the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Attorney General KK Venugopal, other Supreme Court judges, SCBA President Rakesh Khanna and Senior members of the Bar were present during the occasion. The Additional Office Complex of the Supreme Court is set up on 12.19 acres of land adjoining Pragati Maidan to cope up with the space constraints of the apex court. The foundation stone of the block was laid back on September 27, 2012. The new state-of-the-art building has been built in the European style with pillars rising from the ground level. It is environment-friendly, centrally air-conditioned and has all modern facilities. The new complex will also be generating solar power of 1,400 KW. This new building will have five functional blocks and one service block along with a three-level basement with car parking capacity of 1,800 cars. It has the most modern security facilities including surveillance through 825 CCTV cameras.
