Railways Offering Recharge for Bottle Shredding

Plastic is one of the most notorious items, causing harm to the nature and the world at large. However, even after acknowledging so, humans have failed to get rid of plastic threating every eco-system. Measures have been taken to eradicate the item for good, but little have been achieved compared to the damage already caused.

In another attempt, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to stop single use of plastic have been taken cautiously by the Indian Railways. The Railways taking up the task, first installed bottle shredding machines in several stations. Now they have come up with an even interesting plan, which involves mobile recharge awarded to passengers who would use the bottle shredding machine.

The Independence Day speech by PM Narendra Modi motivated the Railways to issue directions to restrict single use of plastics on its premises from 2nd October onwards. On this note, Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav had to promised to install 400 bottle shredding machines in different railway stations. To add more facilities and attract masses to participate, Yadav now have announced commuters wanting to use the machine will have to add their phone number via which railways will award a recharge in return.

There are currently 160 bottle shredding machines available for public use in 128 stations, and railways stuffs are instructed to collect all the used plastic bottles at railway stations and deposit them for recycling. Vendors are also asked to use reusable bags inside platform, to support the cause and in a broader sense to one day eliminate prastic entirely from its premises.
