Railways teams up with GAIL

The railways signed an agreement known as a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with state gas utility GAIL today for the purpose of using natural gas in production units and workshops. One of the primary objectives is to replace industrial gases like LPG, dissolved acetylene and furnace oil/high-speed diesel (HSD) with natural gas. The initiative has been taken for the sake of the environment. This gas will be good for the environment. A total of 23 workshops will be using natural gas by December 31. They are planning to cover 54 workshops and production units, and railway establishments including base-kitchens, guest houses, hostels by June 30 next year as stated by Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani while facing the media.
