Say no to surgery

In our daily life, we deal with many health problems and researchers are working vigorously to find a cure and easier ways of treating diseases and disorders. A cataract is an eye disorder that is very common among people of varying ages. Although it can be cured with surgery recently researchers have found an alternative way to cure it. According to reports an eyedrop can now be used to treat the cataract. Millions of people suffer blindness due to cataract, especially in developing countries. Some people are not able to afford the surgery hence live in the darkness. American Scientists have recently developed a drug that can be put into the eye directly using a dropper. The drug dissolves cataracts.

What is a cataract? Clouding of the normally clear lens of your eye is a cataract. Our lens is mostly made of water and proteins. With age, the protein may clump together and form a cloud which is a cataract. The newly invented drug dissolves this clouding and clears the lens, which used to take place through surgery. The scientists tested the solution on rabbits as well as dogs and it was successful. If the trials on human are also successful then this drop will be out in the market. The drop is based on a naturally occurring steroid known as “lanosterol”. A cataract is limited to not only elderlies, but there are also cases of children who are born with a cataract. If this drug becomes successful then it will change the lives of many suffering people.
