Sesame Street completes 50 years

Sesame Street as a children’s education program needs no introduction.  It airs in over 150 countries and its name is common to every child and even every parent. Today, after completing 49 seasons and 4481 episodes, Sesame Street stands as a highly widespread television show. On 10th November, this year, the show completes 50 years of being a huge source of entertainment and education for the kids.

Over this 50 years of Sesame street, we have seen a lot of change in its action, animation and sketches. However, even though Sesame Street continues to gain years and become old, its popularity would keep increasing”, says one of the animators. When asked to a group of students at the community college in Los Angeles, they reveal that Sesame Street is equally entertaining to the kids as it is to them. “We grew up watching the show. Bert and Ernie were my best friend in childhood and they still are. I have no doubt believing that the show is still alive and equally popular. I am very happy to know that it has completed 50 years.” says Eric Mathews, one of the students of community college.

Sesame Street aired its first show on 10th November 1969. It’s immediate reviews attracted several criticisms and controversies, but the extraordinary work of muppets by Jim Henson, made the show a hit across the globe.
