Smog tower to tackle air pollution

Air pollution in the national capital has been going through a severe case of air pollution. The case is so worse that Delhi launched its first oxygen parlour that offers oxygen for 15 minutes starting at Rs 299 and now Delhi has installed its first smog tower. The smog tower installed on Friday will purify the air. The 24-ft tall smog tower is placed in south Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar. The exhaust fans installed in the tower will suck in the polluted air and remove up to 80% of particulate matter of PM 2.5 and PM 10. It can purify the air in the vicinity of 500 to 750 meters and is expected to cleanse about 2,50,000 to 6,00000 cubic meter airs per day and release pure and clean air, there are plans of installing more such smog towers in Delhi. On Friday former Indian cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir inaugurated the smog tower. The air purifier has been installed by the Lajpat Nagar trader association members with a little help from Gambhir. In the month of November, the Supreme Court issued an order to the centre and the Delhi government to set up a tower near Delhi’s Connaught Place to check the air pollution.
