The national basketball teams- boys and girls, travelled to North Korea to play friendly matches. The friendly basketball matches wereorganised almost after 15 years between the two countries. It is a two-day friendly basketball tournament held in Pyongyang.
Cho Myoung-gyon, South Korean Unification Minister expressed that he believes the friendly matches to be an opportunity for advancementof peace on the Korean Peninsula.The national teams of North and South Korea will compete in four matches, with two matches being played between teams comprising mixed players from the two countries.The idea of arranging such an event was suggested by Kim Jong-un of North Korea at the April Summit held between the two Koreas.
The two Nationshave further agreed to organize more friendly matcheslater this year.
