Students of IIT Mandi to get $2,400 stipend from Google

Students of IIT (Indian Institute of Technology),Mandi, have been selected by Google for the ‘Google Summer of Code’ Initiative which focuses on encouraging student developers around the world in open software development. 108 Countries take part in this Initiative which is being held since 2005, and 13,000 students actively take part in it.

Students participating in the Initiative works with an Open Source organisation for a period of three months from May to August, during which they are paired with an adviser from the participating organisations to gainexposure to real-worldsoftware development and techniques. Students will also earn a stipend while working for the Open Source organisations. 11 students from IIT Mandi are selected for participating in this initiative, who will receive a stipend of US$ 2,400(1,65,540 INR). All the selected students from IIT mandi are from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

The eleven selected students are - Sahil Arora, Abhijeet Sharma, Akash Sharma, Akash Gautam, Sagar Gupta, Sahil Yadav, Swapnil Sharma, AbhigyanKhaund, ChiragVashisht, LakshayArora and PriyanshuKhandelwal.
