The Lannisters send their warm regards

Since its beginning in 2011, the Game of Thrones has taken the world by storm. In spite of having gruesome depictions of violence, much-tabooed sex scenes and set in a completely different time frame, it has gained a loyal fanbase and record viewership throughout the world. Based on George R.R Martin’s book series, ‘Fire and Ice’, GOT has also acquired the reputation of being the most pirated series on the internet.

As with the custom, writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss left us with a major cliff-hanger in the season 7 finale, ‘The Dragon and the Wolf’, revealing Jon Snow to be a Targaryen and the Night King attacking the wall with the undead Viserion. Fans have been coming up with different theories about who is going to get the Iron throne and what might happen in the very anticipated yet pretty destructive ‘Battle of Winterfell’, which promises to be the most historic episode of the series. Director Miguel Sapochnik, the man who gifted us with Battle of Bastards and Battle of Blackwater has stated that the episode took ‘weeks and weeks to film’ and is the longest battle sequence to be aired on television recording the highest number of fictional deaths.

With the release date very near, India seems to be strongly gearing up for the show. Earlier this month, a massive band went out on the streets of Mumbai performing the GOT theme song for the Marathi New Year celebrations. Tinder surveys indicated GOT is the most mentioned show on Indian user’s dating profiles beating the evergreen Friends. Bars across the country have promised to air the episodes and have also organized various themed events.

It is now just a small wait of one day to see what fate our favorite characters might face. After all, Valar Morghulis.
