Veteran actor Viju Khote passed away

Veteran actor Viju Khote who was significantly famous for his role ‘Kalia’ in Sholay (1975) passed away on Monday, September 30 in his sleep. Doctors stated that he passed away due to multiple organ failure. He was 77 years old and was suffering due to health issues for quite sometimes. His niece, actor Bhavana Balsavar reported, "He passed away today at 6.55 am peacefully in his sleep at the residence. He has been unwell for quite some time. He had multiple organ failure". Khote was quite a famous name in the Bollywood industry and had worked in more than 440 films in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He was famous for his iconic dialogue "Sardar, maine aapka namak khaya hai" as Kalia to notorious Gabbar (Amjad Khan) in ‘Sholay’. Khote hails from a family of artists, he was nephew of legendary Durga Khote. He started his career in the mid-60s, and gained quite a bit of fame after Sholay became a hit. His next unforgettable role was ‘Robert’ in Rajkumar Santoshi's 1994 comedy ‘Andaz Apna Apna’. Viju Khote has acted in more than 440 films during his five decade-long career in both Hindi and Marathi cinemas. After his demise, Indian filmmaker and social activist Ashoke Pandit twitted, "Sad to know about the demise of one of the finest actors #vijukhote ji. My deepest condolences to his family".
