Where To Go This Holi?

It’s March and as soon as this month starts the first and probably the only thing that comes to every Indian’s mind is ‘Holi’. The festival of colors. India celebrates many festivals over the span of 365 days but Holi is the most colorful of them and is enjoyed by all. There are certain places in our country those are famous for their Holi celebrations and if you are a wanderer at your heart then you have to visit these places during Holi.

1. Mathura & Vrindavan: Let’s start with the place where it all began. Lord Krishna and Radha used to meet here at the garden of Krishna-Leela. The Banke-Bihari temple in Vrindavan hosts a week-long of celebrations. Hence, it has to be at the top of the bucket list.

2. Shantiniketan: Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore established the Vishwa Bharati University here at Shantiniketan. he started celebrating Holi as an annual event here which is also known as ‘Basanta Utsab’ in West Bengal. It takes place a day earlier than Holi and is packed with several cultural programmes besides playing with colors. Even foreigners come here to be a part of this festival.

3. Punjab: Punjab’s Anandpur Sahib celebrates Holi with a twist. The Sikh Warrior monks showcase their martial arts and play Holi in the evening.

4. Hampi: Holy celebration is not so common in South India but its quite popular in Hampi. Holi is celebrated for two days.

5. Mumbai; Okay! Mumbai means Bollywood and Holi celebrations in Bollywood is very tempting. In real life also, Mumbai is hip and happening during Holi which is full of fun and frolic.
